Jodie Bond
Wild Burlesque
Awaken the Inner Goddess
Wild Burlesque is an original performance and embodiment practice that marries the sensual art of classical burlesque with deep immersion in the natural world. Drawing on over fifteen years of dance practice, Jodie Bond has developed a movement language in which the body enters into dialogue with landscape rather than simply inhabiting it as backdrop.
The natural world was once the seat of female knowledge: of cyclical wisdom, sensory intelligence and a relationship with the body that moved to seasonal rhythms rather than the demands of productivity and self-erasure. Wild Burlesque exists to show women that their own desire and the desire of the living world are not so different from each other. Grabbing fistfuls of grass, howling at the sky, and dancing in the rain, this is a practice that invites us all to let go and connect with the world around us.
Much of her current dance work unfolds in collaboration with ethnobotanist Pridie Tiernan through their Wild Women retreats, which follow the Celtic calendar through the year. Pridie's expertise in plant medicine and ancestral ecological knowledge provides the ceremonial grounding, while Jodie's Wild Burlesque and poetry practice open the body and mind to help women connect to their inner wild.
In a world that often asks women to diminish themselves, burlesque offers a radical act of reclamation. Through carefully crafted movement, playful expression, and the art of reveal, her workshops invite you to reconnect with your sensuality, joy, and authentic power. Whether you're seeking to build confidence, rediscover your body's innate wisdom, or simply give yourself permission to play, each session is tailored to honour where you are whilst gently encouraging you to step into more pleasure, more presence, and more of the fiery goddess within.
Jodie offers Wild Burlesque workshops for retreats, festivals, arts organisations, and women's gatherings. Sessions require no prior dance experience and can be tailored in length and focus to suit the context. She is also available for commissioned performance, site-specific work, and collaborative projects at the intersection of ecology, the body, and contemporary feminist practice.
